Forever Missed.....

A week ago tomorrow Patrick’s grandfather, Leigh Bush passed away. You may recognize the name Leigh, because this is who Walker Leigh was named after. Patrick was the first grandchild in the family, so it was up to him to decide what the “grandparents” names would be. Leigh smoked when Patrick was little so he would always say, “Moke” for smoke. Patrick’s grandmother's name is Rebecca, so he called her Beck. So it stuck, "Moke and Beck”.

As we were flying home this past weekend I read a scripture that reminded me so much of Moke.

Galatians 5:22- But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Moke was all of these things. The love he shared with his family and friends was so contagious. He brought so much joy to a conversation. When Patrick hit his hole in one he couldn’t wait to call Moke, because he knew he would be so overjoyed with happiness for him. Moke was Patrick's biggest fan in everything he did!! His laughter brought peace to a room. Even though he was probably poking fun of one of us his laughter was something that would brighten your day. His patience and kindness was evident in everything he did. He definitely needed a lot of patience with all of us, especially being married to Beck for 61 years…WOW! Moke’s character was filled with extraordinary amounts of goodness. He was always faithful to his family and his commitment to Beck is something I hope Patrick and I will always follow. His gentleness was something I always noticed about him and something I see in Patrick everyday. Moke showed such self-control with his family, his faith and his friends.

Moke was so funny and would light up a room with his humor, laugh and smile. There wasn’t a time with Moke that he wasn’t giving me a hard time about something and I had the most fun dishing it right back to him. He was always reminding me that Patrick was probably out with his girlfriend After being in the family for so long I realized just how lucky Patrick and Matthew were to have such wonderful grandparents. We are so thankful he was able to spend time with his first great grandson and I look forward to telling Walker how lucky he is to be named after such a wonderful man. I will forever miss him answering the phone and hearing his voice say, “Well, hello darling, how are you?” A dear friend sent me a note this weekend saying that Moke was absolutely crazy about me and I only hope he knew how crazy I was about him!! I look forward to the day when I can give him a giant hug! You will be forever missed Moke!!

What a loving tribute to Moke. IT CAME FROM YOUR HEART. In the thirteen years you've known him and Beck, you've always had a special place in you that you knew you were their "grandaughter",too. I pray that Patrick is comforted with all the wonderful memories and love God has given him and everytime you call Walker Leigh's name you can be happy because Moke knew your love and his namesake.
