Physical Therapy/Leg Update

Walker is doing so much better walking on his leg. We see improvements every week its just taking a little longer then expected. His little leg is so weak, but he is slowly getting better. For some crazy reason we thought he would get his cast off and take off. We have realized that a lot of his problem is all mental and a whole lot of scared. Being in a full body cast for 7 weeks was very traumatic for a 4.5 year old. We are working hard at getting him to run normal and he is doing such a great job. It's so nice to finally see him run the bases at his t-ball games!

WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU BUDDY!

We went to physical therapy twice and they gave us some things to work on at home. The ladies were all super nice and Walker soaked up all the attention. The first time we went a nice man said he wasn't coming back when we were there, because Walker was getting all of the attention:) In the photo above they were trying to get him to jump like a frog, but lean and put all of his weight on his "broken leg".

Working on stepping up and down steps without holding on.

Walking/Running on the treadmill.

Jumping on the trampoline....his favorite station:)
If you look closely you can tell he's putting more weight on his right side.

Strengthening his leg by pushing off.

Ankle weights.

Pushing the stool around only using his left leg.
Mrs. Elizabeth his therapist was so awesome. She had him running around the entire office. She actually needed to stop a few times to rest. She said they usually don't do this much activity in one day:) We are so thankful throughout this whole ordeal how well the doctors/nurses/therapist treated us. We hope by the end of the summer you will not be able to tell anything happened to him. We go back to the orthopedic in June and he should be released...YAY!

Walker here is a BIG HUG for you. As I looked at you in PT doing the excerises, I realized the enormity of your broken leg. I am so happy that you're doing so much better. You have a mom and dad that are like you-independent and always perserverant, traits some people never have. Sweet boy, we love you and hope to see you soon. Your new nickname is WALKER WARRIOR -you've won the and will KOKO.
