Our Little Mummy!!

On Saturday, February 16, 2013 around 5pm our normal little world changed drastically right before our own eyes. We had just gotten home from a gymnastics birthday party. Patrick and I were rushing around trying to get the kids ready for dinner and bed time. We were going out to celebrate one of our dear friends birthdays. The babysitter would be arriving in about 2 hours and a lot needed to be done before she came over. It had just started to snow (yes, snow at the beach) beautiful huge flakes...no worries nothing was sticking it was just pretty watching it fall. Patrick was in the kitchen and I was in the living room with the kids. Patrick says, "Hey buddy, run and look out the front door its snowing". Little did we know what was getting ready to happen. Walker ran to the front door and on his way back one foot was on the hardwood floor and one foot on the rug. The rug moved and Walker slipped at the front door and fell down. At first we thought it was a pulled muscle, but he gradually got worse. We let him sleep on it and he didn't sleep a wink all night. We decided to take him in the next morning for an x-ray. Sure enough he has a spiral fracture of the left femur. These type of injuries usually occur only with blunt force trauma (car accident).

This is what he refers to as a "dance party".
He loves to take all the cushions off the couch and jump on them in the middle of the floor. He was doing this Saturday morning before we left for the party. PS- he dressed himself for the morning- no he should not be dressed like it was 90 degrees:):)

Here is the crime scene.....HA!
See the mean old rug:(

I never thought in a million years it could be so easy to end up like this.....

The next morning sitting waiting for a x-ray to tell us what was wrong with his left leg.
Doesn't he look soooooo happy? Poor guy was so miserable.

After waiting at the ER for 1.5 hours here he is resting in his hospital room on the pediatric floor.
Sweet boy was so brave and such a trooper. The only time he cried was when they put his IV in his little hand. He never once complained of pain and throughout this whole process never had any pain medicine. Can you believe it....I would be begging for pain meds. He had his nurses wrapped around his finger.

On Monday, February 17th, 2013 into the OR he went to sedate him while they placed a "Spica Cast" on him. He has a cast that goes from his foot all the way past his belly button. I can't stress how proud I am of this little brave guy. He has not complained once throughout this. He will wear the cast for at least 4 weeks and hopefully no more than 6 weeks.

Monday, February 17, 2013 we left the hospital to finally come home.
Check out his super cool new wheels:)

Riding in the backseat on the way home.
He can't sit in his car seat, so he has to lay across the backseat.  We were able to wrap the seat belt around his belly. The doctor said not to worry much, because he is very well protected.

First thing he wanted to do was hold his baby sister...such a sweet boy!!!
My heart is complete!!

We do a lot of this...playing games.

He wasn't quite sure about signing his cast. He's finally letting everyone sign it. He loves it and we will be able to keep it to show him all the names of his family and friends who came to visit him. We also can't thank Moppy enough for yet again coming to save the day. Moppy has been here for 2 weeks helping out any way she can. We love you Moppy and thank you thank you for all of your help. It sure makes a difference when you are here with us!!!

Well my precious grandson- You have had 2 weeks of extreme changes in your life. Shows just how fast you can have an accident without any warning. Let's see, you can't stand up, walk, run, sit up, come to the table to eat, ride in the car seat,or car except to doctors office, can't go to school, go outside to play, torment Ribbie, climb stairs, go potty, or get food out of the fridge/freezer and in last few days you haven't wanted to eat much at all. You can lay on the couch or floor, play cars if they are beside you, games w mommy and daddy and friends in the floor, ride in the wagon on top of a pillow and that is about all. Let's not forget the wop of hair you cut off the top of your head with your paper scissors Or the urinal accidents oh and rolling off the couch took a year off my life. So big changes have occured. Your dad has been your legs and I will be the first to praise him. Your mom has been so upbeat when you get so tired. Me, I've read and loved on you, covered you when cold, fetched whatever you wanted and I've made you laugh. Throughout you have not complained, just been a big boy. We can see your frustrations but you are smiling and fairly happy too. Saying we have 2 wks behind us and the dr said that it would be another 4 wks at least before they'd remove your cast. Seems like a long time but Know you'll be ok. Until then,Love you so much.
