Today finally happened...no more CAST!! Yipee!!!!
I can't tell you how excited we were for this morning to finally get here. It has been a very long almost 7 weeks with a little boy in a big ole' body cast. We definitely had a bundle of emotions this morning anticipating all of the "what if's". We woke up early this morning to get ready to head to the doctor. Walker was very excited and was not nervous until we actually went into the "cast room". He got super quite with tears in his eyes. He never actually cried, but I could tell he was very anxious about taking off his cast. He has been the best little patient, so strong and brave. This little guy will be able to tackle anything thrown his way.
In the cast room with his airplane headphones on.
They give each little patient headphones so their not scared of hearing the loud cast saw.
Holding his sweet little hand while the BEST nurse ever saws away his cast!!
She said his body cast was the cleanest she has ever seen. She even told his doctor we should receive the best parents award.
Almost there.....
CAST IS OFF BABY!!!!
Waiting to be wheeled in for an x-ray wearing his super cool x-ray shorts!!!
You can see the fracture (this is zoomed in on the computer). If you look on the outside of the bone on the left you can see the "new growth" (looks like a hump on the outside of the bone). Also, I'm not sure if you can see, but the fracture used to go all the way to the edge of the bone on both sides. His doctor said he is a bone growing machine.
He was so excited to be leaving with the cast in tow!!!!!!
We made a pit stop to Krispy Creme and then came straight home and he stayed in the bath for over an hour. We scrubbed and scrubbed until he was squeaky clean. He said it felt so good. The doctor said to let him go at his own pace. Late this afternoon we finally started to walk a little. He is still not bending his leg. It will take some time for his little leg to get strong again and for him to be fully comfortable. The doctor said he would complain of being sore. We are so proud of you buddy and we love you so much!!!!

Papa and I are so glad you have your cast off. You have been a wonder- 1st week you did not move very much--2nd week you were rolling in the floor--3rd week you were pulling yourself around anywhere you wanted to go--4th week you stood up and walked--5th you were batting the baseball--6th &7th week doing anything you wanted to do t-ball practice, joining friends outside and through it all you were proving to yourself that an obstacle was one to overcome. YOU DID! Even though you are only 4 you performed major triumps and maybe in the future if you have problems, you will remember that you have strength for whatever you may face.
Oh,we want to praise you for being so sweet and loving to your baby sister all these weeks. Now go be the "torpedo man" that we know. We love you so much.
