Week One of UNCW Swim School

Week One of UNCW Swim School was a huge success! Walker has done an absolutely fantastic job listening to his instructors and learning how to swim like a big boy. We are so proud of him. The UNCW Swim School is an awesome program that everyone recommended to us. Walker goes everyday for an hour for two weeks. We start Week Two tomorrow and he has already asked us ten times this weekend when can he go back.

These are his three instructors. The two girls are UNCW swimmers. There are 6 kids in the class which are all 3 yrs old. He was not a happy camper when I left him. Every single one of the kids were crying. I felt so sad when I left him to head up to the stands to watch. I was a little nervous because it was hard to let go and have someone else be responsible for him in the water.

I tell you what the instructors don't give them a chance to be unhappy.

They started taking the devices off on Tuesday (yes only Day two) and my heart started racing. They practiced going under water, swimming with their heads down, throwing them in the pool and swimming by themselves to the side of the pool. At one point I was saying, "Ok, when is his little head going to pop up out of the water." The instructors are so good, but it still makes me nervous. Oh yes, not sure what I would do being so far away from him, but lets just say my eyes never leave him.

We are so proud of Walker for learning how to swim and we are so thankful for such a great program at UNCW. Another perk Walker loves is getting to visit Daddy at his office before and after every lesson. It is so fun to hear Walker get excited to tell Daddy what he did in the pool. On Friday he said, "Daddy, stay and watch me swim"...so Daddy stayed:) He looks for us in the stands and when he sees us he smiles and goes back to swimming. On Friday his teacher Bruce said Walker is just a few steps away from doing it all on his own. We will see.....Week Two here we come:)
